Peace in the Storms of Life

By Katharine Weiss

As Believers we have this hope: no matter what is happening in this world or in our lives, we have an anchor that can bring us in from beyond the veil into the presence of God. The Hope of our salvation, Jesus, is also the center of God’s plan, which is a Master Plan. The God of peace invites us to rest, knowing that He will soon crush Satan under His feet. Notably, when Yeshua left this earthly realm, He gave us something to help us in this life. That is a peace beyond understanding.

“Peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give it to you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)

Jesus is not saying that we will have no trials in life, but that in spite of trials, He will be with us:

“In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

We are seeing our sons reach for this in their young adult lives. One son had surgery this past summer (he’s fine!) and during that trial he leaned on the Lord. Our other son is finding God’s peace in the face of scholastic challenges as he grows in shouldering more responsibilities.  It is wonderful and very satisfying to see the Lord’s peace manifesting in the next generation!
